The theme is Cartoon charaters/ Kids shows. We couldn’t resist these two classics, but didn’t like any of the ones available online.
Time to get creative and make our Homemade Bert and Ernie Halloween Costumes.
My friend and I carved the heads from foam (the same foam in car seats). Wigs were glued on along with eyes and the nose. After that felt was sewn in place over the foam. I even stitched gloves out of felt. A few rolls of coloured duct tape later and I had a sweater. It was very important that we could see and breath and drink.
A actually learnt a lot about sewing while making this costume. My wife made a fragile rock costume that looks great also. This is a costume that I will wear at my kids birthday parties. If Sesame Street is popular anymore? Heck I’ll wear it anyway.
Hope you like it!
Where can I find/buy the foam in the size for this? Was it 1 piece or more glued together.
I’m having difficulty finding the correct foam size.
Those are great! You did such an amazing job on the heads!!
So where do you get this foam? And how do you carve it?
I want my boyfriend to be Ernie for this Halloween, (I’ll be rubber ducky) but I’m having the hardest time finding a striped shirt! Yours is all the right colors, where did you find it?
Where did you get the foam and how did you cut out the shapes
You guys inspired us….thank you! We got lucky with finding all the pieces (especially the foam). We’d like to show you how our costumes turned out, but we can’t upload a photo to comments. And didn’t know if we could submit them since we got the idea from you guys and followed your instructions. If you know of a way we can share them with you, let us now :-D Hope you had a happy halloween :-D Thank You again!
I’d love to make my own, but don’t have time. Any way you would be willing to sell/rent the ones you made?
awesome! Costume even the head looks nice
Would love to buy these from you
