This Homemade Queen Amidala Girl’s Costume was made largely with recycled “dress up” items. This year we had three kids doing a Star Wars theme (Yoda, Amidala and Han Solo) so I wanted to keep the sewing to a minimum. The main feature here of course is the headdress and makeup. The structure of the hat was made with plastic cross stitch mesh which is great, it cuts with scissors and can be sewed on a machine or by hand to connect it to itself or to cover it with another material. There is a second fan of mesh behind the gold layer to lift the purple veil higher than her head, and the purple side pieces were inserted into two half rings of mesh that came off the sides. The medallion in the center of the crown was made with a fancy button.
Very pretty and majestic.
