We used a cardboard box cut to look like a cage, some old pants stuffed to look like my son’s legs. A piece of foam board to support the upper body of the clown as well as a pool noodle for the arms and some fake hands. I sewed the back of a mask together and stuffed it for the head. All held together with a variety of duct tape, wire and plastic ties.
The costume was very tall, so he really stood out in the crowd. We got many great reactions, many little kids were frightened. Most wanted to try and figure out how it worked, they were confused by it. We had lots of fun. My son Sean really played it up. When people would come up to him he would claim to have been stuck in there for weeks. “Please help get me out, I am hungry!”
