I have been making my son’s Halloween costumes since he was a baby. Every year we think about what he should be. And, every year it gets more challenging and exciting. This year we decided on King Tut after reading some books on ancient Egyptian history.
My son loved the story of King Tut being he was a boy King. Over all it took 2-3 weeks and between 15-20 hours to complete. Each piece is handmade and hand painted. The sarcophagus is made of cardboard, foam, paper mache, tape, spraypaint and paint.
The Sarcophagus is mounted to a dolly that was painted gold. The suit is made of a body suit covered with cheese cloth and given a weathered look with paint. The shoes are covered with cheese cloth and painted as well. The necklace and bracelets where found at thrift stores and painted with the common Egyptian colors and a scarab beetle was added to the necklace. Over all the response has been amazing with this costume.
