For my Halloween Peacock Costume I bought a witch costume to use as the dress. The witch costume had black feathers at the end of the sleeves and bottom of dress. I plucked out most of those and added some peacock plumage feathers. I had a blue ribbon that I glued green on top of and put that through the holes that lined the middle of the dress. I also added the ribbon to the bottom of the dress and at the end of the sleeves.
The hardest part to make was the tail. I bought 2 pieces of black felt. I stitched that together to make a pocket. I put my longest feathers in that first and glued and stitched those in. For the second layer I glued them to the first layer. I also added a light to the pocket that glowed on the feathers. To cover the felt pocket I used a peacock feather fan and glued that on top.
I added peacock eyes around the dress to add more detail then sprayed the dress with gold and blue glitter. For the mask I used a lot of plumage feathers and glued them around the mask. I put sword peacock feathers at the top and curved them and also added 3 peacock eyes on top. I had long blue fake eyelashes, blue shoes that I added peacock eyes to, and peacock earrings to tie it all together.
Doesn’t sound like it took to long but I spent a over a month figuring, fixing, and putting everything together.
I love your costume. The best i have seen so far. I am thinking of making a peacock costume as well. How did you get the tail to stick to the dress without falling over? i was thinking of gluing and sewing it to a belt.
