My wife and son were dressing as bees for Halloween. My parents (“Grandma and Grandpa”) joined in as beekeepers leaving me to be… a honeycomb? No. Maybe a hive? No. Wait! A pot of honey!
The body of the Pot of Honey Costume is a giant plastic pot from the garden department at Home Depot. I used an X-ACTO knife to cut arms holes in the sides of the pot. Next I sprayed Great Stuff brand insulating foam sealant around the top of the pot to create a dripping honey effect. Careful with this foam! We’ve permanently stained the pavers in our backyard with this! I did one layer at a time, allowing each layer to dry before adding more.
We added decorative wooden bees from Michaels to the wet foam. The lid of the pot of honey is the base of the pot simply turned upside down on my head, again sprayed with insulating foam sealant for the honey look. The honey pot label is an image we found online, printed out and taped to the pot. The finishing touch of the honey pot stirrer is a dowel and three wooden furniture discs screwed together.
Pot of Honey Costume: A Sweet Success!
Great job!!! I love it, but is the foam dangerous, like in an asbestos kind of way?
How did you keep the lid on your head?
