Coolest Homemade Batmobile Tumbler Transformer Costume

This is my version of the Homemade Batmobile Tumbler Transformer Costume. The costume allows me to walk and move with only slightly limited mobility. It transforms into a fairly accurate Batmobile without any assistance.

I spent 2 months creating a design in Google Sketch-up using a model of the Tumbler designed by Angel Moore.

The construction took about 1 month to finish. All the materials came from Lowe’s or Walmart. The majority of the costume is made out of structural sheathing, which is like cardboard only stronger. Most of the moving parts used metal hinges. Pieces are held together with bolts, magnets, heavy-duty staples, Velcro or construction adhesive.

The rear wheels have a skeleton made from 18″ wreath frames and are wrapped in a thick generic black cloth. Front wheels used 5-gallon bucket lids for a frame. Windows are made from plexi-glass sheets painted black on the inside. Everything was painted with black and copper spray paint. The mask is a paintball mask from Sports Authority.

The total cost of the project was a little over $150, probably because I didn’t own some of the tools that I needed to complete it.

I am happy with the way it turned out. The 3D model really helped me figure out what sizes of the different pieces. As far as I know, no one has ever tried this costume idea before.
