My husband and I don’t have any kids, so we live out our Halloween costume fantasies through our Dog. It’s a good thing Petey is such a good sport! This year, Petey was a mouse caught in a homemade mouse trap. It is made of Styrofoam, so it is lightweight and easily portable.
We painted the Styrofoam to resemble a real mouse trap and used felt markers to give it a more realistic look. The finishing touch was a glued on sponge cut to look like a wedge of Swiss cheese.
This Homemade Pet Dog Halloween Costume is an inexpensive and fun costume that could be used for people “or dogs” of all ages.
I wore this costume to a party myself. I got underneath the wire “trap” and strapped it around my waist with a shoelace. It stood up 7 ft tall. It was very eye catching. My husband went as an exterminator. His outfit included a pair of coveralls with fake rats and bugs on his shoulders and weed sprayer marked poison strapped on his back.
That is SO ADORABLE. Nice job and very unique!
Although I do have children to make costumes for, our family dog is also included in the Halloween fun. I think your costume is fantastic and Petey is adorable!
