Using some of the ideas from this website, The Encyclopedia of Immaturity, and my own innovation, we created this “Headless Prom Queen.”
The false shoulders are a piece of Styrofoam packing material I swiped from work, supported by a sturdy piece of cardboard (almost like a stick) that we secured to the kid’s back with 2 belts – 1 around her waist, and the other around her chest.
The dress was $4 from the thrift store. The neck stump (this is my favorite) is a large container of French Onion dip that I flipped over and melted red crayons and candle wax on – glued to the Styrofoam. She took First Place for her age group. But, one of the judges said, if there was an “overall” winner for the day, it would have been her.
We had a blast. It was hilarious watching her walk. I took a ton of pictures, but this captures the moment very well. Grand total, I’d say we spent 15 bucks on the costume… that includes leggings, the dress, french onion dip, fake blood, etc.
great job
