I was trying very hard to think of a great unusual costume that it felt as if my head would pop, then it hit me! Headless ghoul! I played around in my head about how to make this Headless Ghoul Homemade Halloween Costume work, especially since I would be wearing it to work!
I took a box, painted it black, then tied and stapled my homemade cape around it. I cut out a view area in the front of the box and covered it with black netting. I used white bristol board as the neck, rolled it into a cylinder and duct taped it into a hole in the top of the box. I painted it red with dry, brushed black.
Inside the neck, I placed dense foam and I made red rubber tubes (for arteries), two “bones”, and some bloody worms protrude from it. I used a rubber mask, stuffed it, painted some red on it, glued some worms coming out of the eyes and mouth, and then stitched on a wig. I painted some red blood on the wig.
I bought a fake black chain, sprayed on some silver paint, dry-brushed on some red paint. One end I attached to the wig; the other end I attached around my fake neck. I bought fake fingers, put them on over black gloves and ta – dah! I’m headless!
It was easy to lift the box off and on in order to sit and do my work for the day. It was a big hit, people were asking me if they could borrow it!
