This Joker Halloween costume was originally intended for a student film, however since Halloween was around the corner we decided, “why not use it for a Halloween costume as well!?”
My friends and I were and still are such great fans of the late Heath Ledger’s performance as the “Joker” that it inspired us to make a costume for both our student film and Halloween. We printed out and researched many, many reference photos that have been circulating through the internet in order to make the costume a near replica of Heath’s “Joker”. We then hired my mother -a very talented seamstress- to construct the outfit.
After much searching through tons and tons of fabrics we finally found the right material and color in Los Angeles of course; which was a bit of a drive, but well worth it considering how the quality of the outfit came out to be. The most challenging fabric to find was the purple wool for the long coat; boy, that was a pain!
The construction of the costume took at least two weeks, but our seamstress did a fantastic job!
Not only was it a great experience for my friends and I, but it was also a lot of fun! We had a great Halloween this year as they dressed up as the Joker’s goons!
