Coolest Dark Knight Joker Costume

This Dark Knight Joker Costume was done both by my boyfriend and me. I took care of his hair and make-up and helped put the costume together.

It was actually done for a movie character theme party we threw at our apartment, and it was a huge hit.

He already owned the grey dress shirt and the green vest. He borrowed the black fingerless gloves.

The tie, the pants, and the trench coat were all bought from a local thrift store. The pants and the coat started out khaki-colored, but we dyed them purple with Rit brand clothing dye, which runs about $4 a bottle. Because of the slightly different materials on each piece of clothing, the color that it came out to was a bit different. (Cottons take clothing dye better than any other material.)

We bought green hair spray and I applied it ever so carefully. We already owned the face paint, and I just modeled it after pictures of The Joker we found on-line.

As mentioned before, it was a huge hit. In fact, when he and some of his buddies decided to head to down to the bar we live above, he scared the crap out of some bar patrons.

Total approximate cost = $26

  1. this helped me so much I was freaking out because I couldn’t find a white suit to dye from the thrift store because they had already put them up because they are a spring item. but this helped me a lot!! because purple items themselves are super expensive!! thank you!!
