I dressed up as Shera when I was little. One Halloween, a long long long time ago, my brother and I dressed up as He-man and Shera (it was perfect since they were brother and sister in the show). I remember it so well because of how sad my costume was. I had a white dress with gold ribbon wrapped around my waist…nothing close to the actual Shera ensemble. 23 years later I decided to create the Coolest Homemade Shera Costume I’d always wanted.
This was the first time I’d attempted to make a full costume from scratch. I used fabric and wire mesh, spray paint, hot glue gun, beads and gems from Michaels, and used my sewing machine for the cape and skirt. I now understand why the costumes you purchase in stores cost so much…it takes a long time and a lot of money.
It turned out awesome and won the “best costume” prize at the Halloween party I went to.
