Coolest Homemade Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Costume

My 3 year old son wanted to be the Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine last year, so I searched and searched and could not find one. So I tried to talk him out of it and thought he would forget about it being three. Until this year when he was 4 and said he wanted a Homemade Scooby Doo Mystery Machine Costume. So I knew I had to make him one.

The challenge was that there wasn’t a pattern available and I could barely sew. So I used his Lightning McQueen costume from two years ago as a model and a small toy mystery machine to see what it looked like. It took me about three weeks of almost always working on it to complete it.

The materials I used was material, batting, puffy paint, and Styrofoam peanuts and bean bag filling. So I was pretty surprised that it turned out so well, and I got the biggest hug and Thank you from my son. So now after Halloween he has a toy that he can run around and crash into everything insight without hurting himself. I am so proud of the Mystery Machine but told my family I am never making costumes again.

  1. This is too cute! And being a mom whose gifts do not include sewing, I was very thrilled to hear that while you may not be a professional seamstress by trade, you were still able to create one super fabulous and ultra cool costume! Wonderful job, and impressive creativity!
