I made this Homemade Robin Hood Halloween Costume from McCall’s sewing pattern # 2854. I altered the patterns to fit with what my son would feel comfortable trick or treating in; not too long and not too wide, as my son is a skinny thing.
The costume consists of a dark brown tunic, a red cape, a tan cowl with gold tassel, and a brown cap with a green feather. His belt is made from a piece of gold cord tied in a knot and a cloth treasure bag hangs from it. The treasure bag is made up of two pieces of brown fabric that I sewed along the edges and added a one inch seam at the top to slip the string through to close the bag. I made a quiver for his arrows out of a Pringles can that I covered with brown textured felt, hot glue, and ribbon wrapped lengthwise around it to make the strap. The only thing not made by myself is the pair of tan pants he already had.
