After seeing Avatar my daughter decided she MUST be a Na’vi Princess for Halloween. This homemade childs Avatar Na’vi costume was fun to make.
I hand-painted tights and a leotard with two shades of blue fabric paint for the stripes. I made the tail from floral wire and wrapped it with the sheet style stuffing and then wrapped that in blue duct tape and painted it. This process allowed me to make the tail bendable and sturdy. I then attached it to the leotard. I made a dress out of an old shirt she had and hot glued fabric strips to the bottom and feathers over one sleeve to make it look more “native”.
I braided her hair and added feathers and some primitive jewelry I made to top it off. The ears are just a piece of blue foam board (50 cents at the craft store) that I cut and attached into her ear with bobby pins.
This homemade childs Avatar Na’vi costume was a fun outfit to make and it was a hit at her school Halloween party!
