My Queen of Hearts Costume was based off of Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland”. It was made using several well loved gowns that I bought from a thrift store. The top of the gown was taken from an old velvet dress. I cut the sleeves off so I could wear another shirt underneath. The front of the top is actually the back of the gown. I cut off the zipper and hand stitched gold buttons so that I could have a corset-like tie in the front.
The skirt was made from an old prom gown. I sewed on a white panel from another old summer dress and attached gold hearts. I then outlined the hearts in pearl ribbon and outlined the white panel with gold ribbon. The makeup was done by myself. The crown was bought at a local holiday shop and was jazzed up using rhinestones and a little magic.
