Coolest Homemade Red Queen Halloween Costume

For this homemade Red Queen Halloween costume I started with the black satin bodice. It has a corset eyelet lace up back. I used sheer black fabric and folded and stitched it to make less sheer stripes and attached it to the bodice. Then I sewed the red velvet stripes onto the gold satin and added the pearls and and neckline ribbon.

Next I stitched on the fake red gems. Then sewed the ribbon onto the sleeves, and added the black beads. Then I put all the pieces together to complete the top and added the rectangular glass beads with gold cording. The long sleeves were made from trouser socks with the feet cut off that slip onto the the arm. The arm bands are elastic with with red ribbon and beads sewn together to get put on top.

I pleated the red satin skirt into 5 panels, then cut out gold lame hearts and glued them on, then glued fancy black trim around each heart. I sewed the gold jacquard trane separately. I sewed a piece of tulle between the gold exterior and red jacquard underside to give it more volume. I then a gathered it at the waist and sewed a piece of velcro to the entire waistline with a snap on each end. I did the same to the red heart skirt so the skirt could be worn with or without the trane.

I’m sure there are details I have missed. This homemade Red Queen Halloween costume is full of intricacies. It took a lot of time to make but we had a blast working on it. She had a ball being in character and more importantly than creating it, we made memories.
