We wanted to be something scary that year and I had recently seen the re-released version of the Exorcist. So we decided to be Reagan from the Exorcist and her Priest Homemade Costumes.
For the priest, I found a cheap “Father” outfit and added a felt scarf that I cut out and painted white crosses on the ends. I also made a cross necklace out of two sticks. I bound them together to form a cross with wire and hung it around my boyfriend’s neck. We got a gray haired wig to wear and I put some plum colored eye shadow around his eyes so he looked exhausted.
For Reagan, I bought a cheap kid’s night gown from the thrift store. I mixed up her “vomit” by mixing some dried oatmeal, green/brown craft paint, and some clear coat schelack (so that it would dry and be kind of shiny). I dripped it around the neck line so that it looks like her vomit.
I crimped and teased up my hair to look messy. For her creepy face, I love to use regular old water base craft paint. Dries nice, doesn’t hurt my skin, and won’t rub off like Halloween make up. I mixed a little green and brown with my normal make up and lotion and rubbed that all over my face. Then, I mixed a little red and black to make a blood color and painted “scratches” all over my face as well as added a little eye shadow around my eyes to make dark circles.
I tinted my hands, too, to match my face. I wore long john pants and a fuzzy robe and slippers to top off the look! Everyone was completely taken back by how scary I was.
