Coolest Homemade Blade Costume

“Blade: The Series” was a program on “Spike TV” during the summer of 2006. It was based on the successful “Blade” movies produced by Marvel Comics that starred Wesley Snipes. The TV version of our hero featured a bald-headed “Blade”. Compared to the movie version, TV “Blade’s” costume was spectacular!

As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have that costume! The problem was, there was nowhere to buy it (the movie version is available all over the place), so I had to create my own Blade costume!

The coat was made from a pattern used for a “Matrix-style” trench coat. The “silver bullet” near my right shoulder was made from a battery cleaner and an ink-pen top. The tactical suit was made from a fisherman’s vest with a shoulder strap and bullet harness sewn into it. The “spikes” are knitting needles cut down to the size required for proper fit and look.

It took two years to put it together correctly and it was worth every moment! I have worn it to numerous comic-book conventions on the east coast and the fans love it! People actually ask “are you really him” which is the ultimate complement.

I hope that my submission is worthy of being on your website! Be well!

  1. My roommates and I are doing a comic book theme for Halloween this year, and I’ve been trying to find my boyfriend a good ready-made Blade costume, but we’ve been unsuccessful. Thanks for showing us that a homemade costume can look MUCH better than anything ready-made that we’ve seen! Your costume, and ideas, were amazing! Thank you again for the inspiration.
