Our family are huge fans of the children’s TV show called “Yo Gabba Gabba” and one of our favorite characters is Plex the Robot, so we created this homemade Plex the Robot Halloween costume.
The body is a recycled cardboard trash box for leaves. We covered the body with some bright yellow fabric and had enough to cover a 12″ sonotube for the helmet. An 8×10 picture frame without the glass (covered in yellow fabric also). Wooden buttons, painted them yellow. Styrofoam disc’s and dowels. Pringles’ cans that were spray painted silver. I use some packing styrofoam, and then shaped them with a styro-cutter (hotwire cutter) for the robot’s hand or gloves and went through about 2 bags of hot glue sticks for everything that needed to be glued on. 4″ Black Speaker for the middle of the body. Also Metallic fabric that were made into pants and sleeves.
Black mesh or black window screen for the eyes and I did my best to paint those eyes on. Yellow foam-board to use for the top part of helmet (to cover up sonotube) and for the inside of the picture frame.
The kids and parents around our neighborhood absolutely loved and adored our homemade Plex the Robot Halloween costume. We had a blast.
