Everybody does a Mario and Luigi costume, but I thought how can I make it even better? First off…I made them female. Easy as taking a pair of shorts overalls and cutting out the inside part to make it skirts. (I would say that’s optional though) Then I thought, in the games the brothers are constantly changing costumes…so why can’t we? We each picked versions we liked. I couldn’t make up my mind, so I actually switched halfway through the night. I chose to start off as Raccoon Mario from Super Mario bros 3 which consisted of attaching small ears with buttons to my red Mario baseball cap and a tail with another button on the back. Then halfway through the night, I unbuttoned the ears and tail and put on a yellow cape to go as the flying Mario from Super Mario bros from SNES.
For Luigi, she wanted to go as fireball Luigi so we made hers out of kaki overalls and then she carried around red paper balls in her pocket. She didn’t switch to another version. We drew the different logos on our arms (i.e. the feather for the cape, the flower for the fireball, the leaf for the raccoon ect) and finally we topped it all off with mushroom purses made from white cloth and red t-shirt painted polka dots AND we carried around old school Super Nintendo remotes plugged into our pockets!!
