I had made my daughter an airplane costume which is also on here (Fly Girl). I couldn’t just make a costume for her. So I asked my son what he would like, he didn’t know. Well the pink fire truck came to town for breast cancer. One of the firefighters spent about a half an hour showing my son a red fire truck. That was it, I was going to make a Homemade Fireman and Fire Truck Halloween Costume.
I ran back to Michaels, grabbed more supplies. I used foam, paint and a glue gun. Three hours later the truck came together. It has sound and a flashing red light which I found online for a kids bike. The two headlights work also. He loves it! Here is the final truck.
Update:
Here you go. Sorry I never come to this page. This was a contest we entered in 2009.
Just be creative and let it flow. The foam was a little brittle. You could use card board or another foam that would be more durable.
I can’t find the finished pictures but I added lights on the front that I bought from a hobby store. The light on top had a bike light/ siren. Stickers for the words. spray paint, all the black lines were made with a large sharpie pen.
I also doubled up yellow duck tape into strips and glued them on the back for hoses.
Just have fun and it will look great!
