Handmade Medusa Costume

This year I decided to be Medusa, the Greek Goddess from Greek Mythology. I did not want to use the store bought costume. They all look too much the same and not unique enough, so I made my own Homemade Medusa Costume.

I found material that looked like reptile skin. It was dark green with the texture that looked as if it came off a snake. I made an outfit as a one piece dress from that material I found. Attached to the back of the dress, I had a tail to replicate the tail of a snake. I purchased a cheap wig with curls and attached some gold flexible snakes to the curls on the wig, then painted the whole wig and snakes to give a more realistic look. I cut some fishnet stockings to size over my arms and face to also replicate snake skin look.

I purchased and painted liquid latex over the fishnet stockings to give it a more realistic look. I also purchased contact lenses to give the overall effect of “MEDUSA”.

I hope you like the outcome, I tried to be as creative as I could on this costume.
