I made this homemade thundercloud costume for my daughter when she was 1. It was an accompaniment to the raindrop costume that I made for my other daughter.
I started with two large pieces of fabric with a hole cut in the middle, like a sandwich sign. I appliquéd a lightning bolt shape on the top piece of fabric. I added some strings to the sides so that I could tie the two sides together on both sides of her waist. I sewed the top and bottom pieces together (including the strings) and turned it all right side out. I then sewed little cloud shapes through both pieces of fabric leaving a portion open so that I could add stuffing. I stuffed all of the little puffs of the cloud, which was a tedious task. I had to use a stick to get the stuffing where it needed to go.
