I did this costume 3 years ago for the WOW – world of wearable arts awards in New Zealand.
At that time I was still a student of a Fashion design course, and was eligible for student category.
And this costume indeed won me the second price for tertiary education section.
The inspiration came from meditation, realization that life is nothing more than a game, a game we we pursue our goals, desires, ambitions, to only one day realize our spiritual nature.
I spent over 3 months working very hard on this costume and it almost missed the deadline. But fortunately, I just got in time – 2 days before last submission date.
It was lots of fun making this fairy costumes full of colorful paintings, and it was also great experience as I was learning how to sew at the time.
Any interested in costumes should really look into WOW, just type that in google and they shall turn out the page – its in New Zealand and they do hold very big shows every year. The first prize winner gets about $10k as I remember.
