This Caged Zoo Keeper Homemade Costume took a while to construct. The cage is made of PVC pipe, but if I do it again, I’ll use cardboard tubes such as those that are in gift wrapping paper as they will be lighter. A brace was made to hold the cage up while supported by the shoulders to keep hands free for the trick-or-treat bag. Using lots of duct tape and masking tape to hold things together.
Major Supplies: Cardboard Tubes, Gorilla stuffed toy, fake fur, kids pants and shoes, stuffing (balloons, pillow stuffing, plastic grocery bags, anything light weight).
The head of the gorilla was from a stuffed gorilla that we purchased at a thrift shop. For this costume, stuffing should be with things like balloons.
As popular as this costume was for a company costume contest as well as trick-or-treating, it got a bit heavy for my daughter. Find ways of keeping it as light weight as possible.
Hi I’m trying to make this costume for my son but I’ve having trouble figuring out how to support the cage????? Can you help me??
