Being a college student money is hard to come by. So when I found a large cardboard box, at work, around August I knew I had to turn it into a costume for the upcoming Halloween. Over the next month I glued and taped and cut an entire Homemade Robot Halloween Costume from this humble box. I had to spend money to get the tubing for the arms and legs and get some of the lights and speakers inside from the thrift store or dollar store.
When it was finally completed it was a walking party, including a strobe light and music, ready to show off at my college costume contest. I was unanimously voted first place and got my picture taken with the kids from the local preschool. No matter who I see, they all react in one of 3 ways. Either they ignore me, double take, or just scream robot and run up to me. For whatever reason a robot seems to be the universally accepted cool costume.
