My daughter insisted on a Homemade Girl Robot Costume for Halloween. My husband cut out a storage bin and spray painted it metallic gray. We used dryer hosing for the arms and attached them with a hot glue gun. I then used Xmas ornaments from the dollar bin from Target, tea light candles holders, buttons and paper from my scrapbooking supplies to decorate it. I outlined the letters with a black sharpie to make them stand out more.
I also used rhinestones to outline the dial on the front of the costume. The helmet is made from a milk carton that was cut out and attached to an old baseball cap. It was also spray painted metallic gray. I used wooden dowels and attached Xmas ornaments at ends of each one for antennas.
I also used a pipe cleaner to accessorize the antenna like a “wave of electricity” Bike reflectors were also used. We Velcrod the top of the storage container to keep it shut after it was cut out. Also she wore gray sparkly tights and silver sparkly shoes.
My daughter loved the costume and won 1st place in two different costume contests.
