My daughter told me she wanted to be a stop sign for Halloween. Well, I thought that was kinda boring so I talked her into being a Pedestrian Sign. Yellow is her favorite color anyway.
For this homemade pedestrian crossing sign Halloween costume I started off by buying a large piece of styrofoam from a hardware store. I then drew a large square and cut it out using a razor blade. Next, I primed it with Kiltz, waited for it to dry and them painted it bright yellow. I them painted the black border and black “sidewalk” lines.
She was to be the pedestrian, so I dressed her in black pants, turtleneck, gloves, shoes and she wore a black knit hat. I also painted her face with black makeup. I then sent her to all the neighbors house for feedback. The neighbors were not really understanding the whole concept.
Actually, not many people are familiar with the Pedestrian Crossing sign. So, I thought if I drew the pedestrian on the back of the sign, that it might help. I then sent her to the neighbors once again, and reviews were more positive this time. I cut a hole in the sign so that she could carry it and pose, occasionally, like the pedestrian. She enjoyed being the sign, mostly because it was yellow.
