Prickly the porcupine was made for a two year old severely OCD boy. Making his costume was a challenge of measuring a pair of pajamas for the faux fur fabric to making a separate cape of quills made out of zip ties and white tape sewed to the cape. We then attached it all with buttons and zip ties.
It was fun, it was complicated and it was frustrating at times. At one point a separate hood was made and he took it off and slowly walked it to the garbage saying “all done” the whole way back to the living room. Once it was on him he was happy to walk around strutting pretending he was poking people.
