Last year for Halloween a friend’s daughter wanted to be Gir from Invader Zim. After searching the internet high and low for one they asked me to make one for her. Having never seen the cartoon myself it was a bit of a challenge to figure this one out. A pile of bright green felt and 20 reference pictures later and this Gir from Invader Zim costume is what I came up with. The friend’s daughter was thrilled with it.
The entire costume is constructed with different colors of felt. A small amount of pillow stuffing was used in the eyes to make them pop a bit and the ears each have black pipe cleaners in them to help them stand up. There is also a bit of stuffing in the top of the head to help it from caving in. The ‘stitching’ on Gir runs from the front of the head all the way down to the bottom of the body.
