Homemade Women’s Gum Ball Machine Costume (Costs Less Than $20 to Create!)

This costume was very easy for me to create. The first thing I did was buy a red maxi dress on clearance for $9. Next I went to a craft store (Michaels) & bought a big bag of assorted Pom-Poms in a variety of colors for $6.99. At home I hot glued the Pom-Poms all over the top of the dress where the breasts are. For the sign I used a small piece of wood I had laying around, I painted it silver and added the gum ball dispenser look to it with a black sharpie marker & wrote 25 cents. To affix the wood to the dress, I bought heavy duty felt from Office Depot for $2.99 and affixed it to the dress and the back of the wood. Iowa bought a miniature red hat at party city for 99 cents and hot hot glued a few of the pom-poms to it, to resemble the top of a gum ball machine. To be fun with it, I did my makeup in bright gumball colors & drew gumball on my cheek :) I got lots of compliments at a halloween party I attended and also won “most original costume” in a contest. The whole costume took less than a week to create and cost around $20 total.
