My three month old son, Kal was Alfalfa for his first Halloween. He was born with a full head of hair so we knew we didn’t want to cover it up. He woke up from a nap with a “Falf” sticking straight up in the air and the idea just came to me. I found his shirt with bow-tie on the Old Navy website, the jeans are Carter’s jeans, suspenders are from Spencer’s.
The hardest part was his cowlick, he has a very prominent cowlick right up front in his bangs so to get that to part and stay down, I used Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo to gel it down. I put hairspray on my finger tips and twisted the “Falf'” and used lip-liner for the freckles. The best part was all the comments we got from everyone who saw him or his picture. He had his three month checkup that day and they asked to take his picture to post on their website. Everyone who saw him or a picture of him dressed up raved about how adorable he was and how I nailed the costume.
We were unable to do much trick or treating due to the three shots he got at the doctor office and the strep throat I managed to catch the day before. I took as many pictures as I could and I was able to send them to family and upload them on Facebook for others to see how absolutely adorable our little Kalfalfa was. With the big personality my little man has, he went from Alfalfa to Kalfalfa in a hurry, he made the look all his own and looked darn cute while doing it. For our first Halloween costume in a long road to many more, I believe it was a huge success and can’t wait to see what we come up with next year.
