Coolest Animal from the Muppets Homemade Costume

My son wanted something different for Halloween so since I’m always up for a challenge I asked for suggestions.  “What about Animal from the Muppets?  But it has to be cool, not lame”  Gulp.  So starting with a batting helmet as a base I layered foam to shape the head and went from there.  Lots of thrift store finds helped add pieces.

The clerk at the store did a double take when his sister asked for chain for her brother but it was fun to add all the accessory pieces to make him ANIMAL.  The best part was the double-takes people gave us when we were driving.  The hardest part was trying to keep the cat from attacking it while I was gluing on the yarn hair.  My son’s assessment?  “Freaking awesome costume mom!”
