Me as a female Beetlejuice. (Or you could call it Lady Beetlejuice, Bettyjuice, Beetle Babe, or whatever else suites your fancy!) Inspired by the cult classic, 1988 Tim Burton movie, Beetlejuice. Starring Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder and Michael Keeton as Beetlejuice. I wanted to do a sexy glam, but still scary and hideous, female Beetlejuice DIY costume.
I’ve thought about doing it the past couple years and finally decided to do it this year, and I’m so pleased with how it turned out! I pulled it off by doing my own hair and makeup using products I already owned. And also making a girly version of his pin-stripped suit.
I used 1 inch masking tape and Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue to add stripes to a black fitted suit jacket and a short, black school girl type skirt that I already owned. Then, I used bright green tulle to make a tutu by stitching shreds to a 2 inch band of elastic, and I bought the stripped leggings to complete the look.
I used colored hairspray to turn my hair gray, white, and green after back-combing and lots of hairspray to get that messy Beetlejuice look; and I used tissue paper and liquid latex for the moldy moss spots on my skin.
Awesome Beetlejuice DIY Costume Reactions
Everyone LOVED my take on Beetlejuice. They all said I totally nailed it. I can’t count the compliments I received! Lots of pictures were taken! I love Halloween and every year I make my own costume. Now it’s time to start planning next year’s ensemble! I’m kinda famous with my friends for making my own costumes, and a lot of them usually enlist my help every year to complete their own Halloween looks! I look forward to halloween every year, just so I can show of my new costume creation! I hope that my take on Beetlejuice will inspire other people too create their own versions of forgotten pop culture icons from the past!
