Cadet Builds F-16 to prepare for Air Force Pilot Training

As a college senior swearing into the world’s greatest Air Force this May, I decided to get a headstart on training by building myself an airplane! I was inspired to build an F-16 because it’s what my dad flew, and he’s the reason I decided to fly!

It all started with a big TV box. I cut out the shape of the plane, cut it so that the inside could be stuffed with foam, then paper maché’d the exterior. Then spray paint and detailing completed the look. My boyfriend added under/rear-wing tip strobe lights, and also Red/Green wing tip lights (so I can land safely!) Everyone in my unit absolutely loved the realistic work and thought using my real flight suit and my dad’s old helmet was a nice touch!

  1. Hi! How did you get it double sided to stuff? I only used one piece of cardboard to cut out the jet? I’d love it to look 3D, but not sure how you created that look.
