This is my Adventure Book (Pirate) character costume from The Pagemaster movie I made for my Son Joshua.
I started with a cardboard frame and glued on some thin foam carpet underlayment that is shaped into the book form in the back and glued the seams with contact cement. The arms were cone shaped and fit into the sides of the book. The nose section was carved out of a large section of foam cushion from an armrest of a couch.
The mouth was shaped out of the same foam and was the best detail out of the whole costume. The mouth section along with the eye and patch were glued on with openings for him so see out; I placed black fiberglass window screen over them and painted them accordingly.
The red bandanna is just some picnic pattern material wrapped around the top of the book. The eyebrows and mustache are made out of brown long fur and hot glued into place. The belt was painted on with a gold painted cardboard buckle. The right hook was a store bought hook glued to the arm while the left hand was a small black rubber glove with a cardboard sword painted silver.
He wore red sweatpants and black women’s boots.
This is awesome, I love that movie!
