As a child of the 80’s I decided virtually a year ago that I wanted to do an accurate version of a Homemade Vicki Costume from the 80s TV Series Small Wonder Vicki for Halloween which as far as I could tell hadn’t been done before. Every version I found online seemed to be an afterthought – “Oh look its a red dress! Lets throw some loose computer parts on the back and I will be Vicki!” Therefore, it was very important to me to finally give this costume some justice.
My mother and I worked together to create a virtually exact replica of not only Vicki’s dress but also her back panel. The panel consists of flesh colored vinyl, foam board, the motherboard from an old 80’s VCR and a whole lot of Velcro. I also dyed my blond hair brown and cut myself some tiny bangs which I felt were a very important part of the costume.

Hi there, I’m from Australia and a huge fan of Vicki the Small Wonder. Not many people I know even know the TV show but I got invited to a 80’s costume party and cant seem to find not even one of her costumes online for sale. hahah you nailed it. I was first going as a robotic baby doll to my boyfriends mad scientist costume. Then someone said “oh that outfit looks like small wonder. I’m 25 so I’ve never heard of that show. I looked it up and VIOLA! I have a name to go with my costume. Your costume look excellent.
All I know is that I would love to go as Vicki but the only dress that I have is a purple dress that is from the 80’s. How would I be able to pull it off?.
