My youngest son came up with this idea last year right after Halloween. This Homemade York Peppermint Pattie Costume was made using silver and blue vinyl fabric, and cording. I used the wrapper as my example and went from there.
I sewed the blue vinyl on the silver as it didn’t stick using fabric glue. I then used fabric glue to glue on the cording for the letters and trim. I must say I went through 3 different types of glue…fabric, hot glue, and then gorilla glue and nothing seemed to keep the cording attached. My suggestion would be to sew it on the first time before you attach the outfit together!
After that I just used a Sharpie blue marker to write on the front and back. We sprayed his hair silver to match his outfit.
The best part was hearing everybody tell him they were going to eat him because that was their favorite candy. He loved every minute of wearing this costume!

This is such a simple costume to make but it really is something either a boy or girl would love to wear. Who doesn’t like Peppermint Patties? This costume has my vote.
