Coolest Pine Fresh Air Freshener Costume

This year my husband’s costume is a Pine-Fresh air Freshener. Here’s how it came about…

Every year my husband says he will dress up for Halloween, and every year he backs out at the last minute. This year I decided to make him a costume and I knew it had to be something original and humorous in order for him to go along with it. I looked and looked and couldn’t find just the right costume, and one day this idea just popped into my head.

We used a very large piece of cardboard and used a marker to draw a large tree shape with the squared bottom similar to those pine air fresheners that so many people hang in their cars. Cutting it out was a little tricky, and took some time to do. Then we purchased some inexpensive spray paint to paint it green. It took two coats of paint to get it a nice dark green color.

To make the loop I braided several strands of twine and put the braid through a hole I had made near the top of the tree. I tied the ends then hot-glued the knot so it wouldn’t come undone. I used fabric paint for the lettering and let it dry overnight.

Last, I hot-glued some shoulder straps to the back made from scraps of felt from another project.

It can be worn on the front or on the back. We went to a costume party already and everyone thought this costume was really funny.
