Cool Edward Scissorhands Homemade Costume Idea for a Boy

I made this Edward Scissorhands costume for my 9 year old son. I bought black pants and a black turtle neck from a second hand store for $3.00. I also picked up some studded belts from a variety of second hand stores for between 50 cents to $3.00 each. I cut up the belts to fit certain area such as around the legs, arms, neck, chest, and abdomen.

When I couldn’t find anymore studded belts that I needed to finish the costume, I used standard black belts and hammered silver thumb tacks through the belt to create a studded appearance. To create the scissor hands, I used plastic knives and spray painted them silver. It was difficult to figure out how to get the plastic knives to stay in place but I came up with band aids of all things. I put the plastic knife handle to the tip of my son’s fingers and wrapped each finger with band aids. I just added some black hair spray for $2.00 and make up for $2.00, you have yourself a pretty amazing Edward Scissorhands costume for less than $15.00.
