Cool Homemade Leprechaun Costume

I made my leprechaun sitting on a pot of gold for this year’s work costume contest. I am always trying to win the most original category so this is what I came up with.  The hill is made out of chicken wire. I didn’t give it any other structure, just several layers, bent and twisted to make a hill shape. If I were going to do it again, I would give the chicken wire some sort of support. I had a difficult time with transporting it and keeping the shape together but it did hold up.

I then took a witches pot for the pot of gold and filled it with gold Christmas tinsel. I attached that to the material using lots and lots of glue. I made the little legs by stuffing socks with fiber fill and attaching them to pants and little shoes. I did make little gold buckles for the shoes that you can’t really see in the pic.

I then attached a rainbow and added fiber fill for the clouds. This made the piece a little heavy which is why I would give the base more structure. Then I added the vest, hat, bow tie and beard to complete the ensemble. I won first place!
