My husband and I watched the movie Onward (we may not have kids, but we are kids at heart!) and realized we looked EXACTLY like the parents in the movie – Laurel and Wildon Lightfoot! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to design these Onward costumes since we already had the clothes in our closets.
I LOVE doing makeup-intensive costumes, and he loves making costume props. He made the minotaur’s sword from high-density foam. He used a hot wire cutter to carve out the shape and the runes, then painted over it with acrylics after assembly with hot glue.
I used Mehron Paradise paint in light blue for our faces along with blue and gray eyeshadow and pink blush for the details. I bought the wig and glasses for Laurel off of Amazon and he already wears his glasses daily!
Lastly, the ears were made by Jacobsen Hat Co. and painted with the same Mehron paint that I used on our faces. The gloves were purchased from WeLoveColors.com since they make gloves specifically color matched to Mehron brand paints.
