Willow Grace was inspired to be a ruby throated hummingbird from our summer family trip to Kentucky where hundreds of hummingbirds visit our Uncle’s lake house every day. Her school requires the costumes be a literary character and “Little Green” is a beautiful book about a little boy paiting the path a hummingbird is making while fluttering around the garden. It was made out of felt and material, the beak was a mask and foamies.
All the feather’s were glued on individually, 4 bottle of fabric glue in total. It was very challengine, yet very rewarding! We started the first week in September. We added a real feeder to the costume as a prop. The reaction to the costume was overwhelming, no one had ever seen a hummingbird costume before and they were blown away at the uniqueness!
