I threw an 80’s themed party for mine and my husbands 30th, and after watching many 80’s cartoons for idea’s, my daughter decided that she would like to be strawberry shortcake.
As I am not a sewing expert, I found a perfect dress on eBay that gave the impression that it was a red dress with white pinny/apron, it was floor length though so it did need to be shortened. I then bought some green felt material for the patches and some red wool for the X’s along the bottom.
Green and white stripy socks (again from eBay) and homemade bloomers, and finally the hat! Now I had no idea how I was going to make the hat and after much searching on the internet i knew i wouldn’t be able to buy one, so I managed to find a shower cap, added a lace frill round the bottom and sewed some strawberry buttons (once again eBay) to the top.
And there we have the 1980’s Strawberry Shortcake homemade costume!!
