My siblings and I were going on a cruise that fell on Halloween. The ship had a costume contest and being competitive, I wanted to win! We thought for months what would be a great group costume that would work with our body sizes and personalities. It finally hit me… since WE are a family, lets BE a family – the Addam’s Family!!
It worked out great, my husband is 6’7” and gets called lurch a lot… and we went from there!
(left to right)
Grandmama: black velvet dress, shawl, witch’s wand, necklace all from Goodwill. Wig from eBay, and cheap white and black costume makeup mixed to make gray for the face and some tooth out to make dirty teeth!
Wednesday: Dress and doll from Goodwill (we cut the dolls head off and took off the Clothes) Black wig from Wal-Mart and braided it. She was easy!!
Morticia: Dress and wig from Halloween store and makeup used was the same cheap white makeup as grandmamma only more white and set with a translucent powder.
Gomez: Pin-striped suit found at Goodwill, facial hair from Halloween store, and “Thing” was found on eBay (cigar is from his private collection) lol!
Uncle Fester: We couldn’t find an authentic Monk suit so we went for the cheap one from the Halloween store- bald cap and same makeup as the girls.
Lurch (in the back): He was the easiest! He already had a black suit and bowtie – just needed some face paint!
Note: this was late in the night, you can see a lot of the makeup was coming off as well as Uncle Fester’s bald cap lol. *** ARE ADDAMS FAMILY GROUP COSTUME WON FIRST PLACE ***
I thought the kids idea was fabulous!! Never thought they would win first place on a cruise ship! They definitely have great imaginations, not to mention thrifty to boot. I took them to yard sales, thrift stores and any bargain shops we could find since they were little people. Guess that all paid off… and Halloween was our favorite for dressing up and using our talents. Those kids are just as much fun now as adults as they were growing up!!! I am one proud Mom !! :)
fun and creative! good thing to be as a group. thanks!
