I made this Autumn Fairy costume for my daughter this year, at her request. I used the McCall’s pattern # M4887, for the dress, vest, and skirt, and purchased the wings, as I thought they were gorgeous. The wings are called “Shimmering Dark Butterfly Wings”, and are made by Fun World. They are adult sized, but fit her perfectly none-the-less, even though she is only ten year old, and petite for her age.
Most of the fabric I chose came from the home / upholstery section of my local fabric store; it was quite reasonably priced. In her hair she is wearing artificial leaves, attached with hair pins. It doesn’t show in the picture, but she is wearing gold metallic nail polish on her nails, and Revlon “Make a Sheen lustrous shadow”, in “olive it up”, on her eyes. Her face is dusted with shimmery gold powder.
She definitely feels like the graceful fairy she wanted to be!
