Being from Australia, we don’t really celebrate Halloween. This Banana in Pyjamas Costume was actually made by me for carnival in Holland, but now I’m living in Canada and I can’t wait for my first real Halloween!
I wanted an original and Australian costume, and I was lucky enough to find the banana hat at a thrift store! From there it was quite simple – I bought the stripy blue and white fabric and made a pyjama top and bottom. I made shorts because the material was a bit expensive, and wore yellow tights and socks underneath as banana legs. I stitched 3 big white buttons to the front of the top and wore a yellow tank-top under the shirt too, as the neck was quite wide.
It was such an amazing costume. I loved how everyone would sing the theme song wherever I went, especially if I was on stairs!! I only needed a B2, as someone ate the banana I was carrying with me!
