Cool Black Swan Homemade Costume

For Halloween this year, I went as the Black Swan from the Natalie Portman movie “Black Swan.” I absolutely loved the movie and I have wanted to dress up as a ballerina for Halloween for years.

I previously danced so I had some of the materials on hand. I used old pointe shoes, tights, and a tiara from previous performances. However, I did need to piece together the tutu from an old white leotard, a cruddy tutu that I beefed up with more tulle, and some lace. Plus, I had to dye the whole thing black, without a washing machine, so my mom and I dyed the pieces in bags in my tub!

My makeup for the night took 45 minutes and completely pulled the look together.

I almost won a costume contest but lost to a cross-dressed cat because it was more of a popularity contest than anything.
